Volleyball Recap: Bishop Watterson Takes a Loss

Bishop Watterson extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-4. They fell 2-0 to the St. Ursula Academy Arrows. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Layla Hoying paced Bishop Watterson's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hoying got some help from Ava Picken and her eight assists.

As for St. Ursula Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-4 Bishop Watterson and 1-4 Padua Franciscan.

Leading St. Ursula Academy to victory were Ellie Panczyszyn and Kiki Chan. Panczyszyn had six digs and two aces, while Chan had six digs. Panczyszyn is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season.

Bishop Watterson has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Padua Franciscan on the 23rd. As for St. Ursula Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Northview on the 28th.
