Brandon hasn't had much luck against Freedom recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Patriots at 7:00 p.m.
While Brandon is heading in to the matchup without a victory, things might be looking up considering their last game was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Leto. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since March 8, 2025.
Brandon got a good showing from Zach Philmon, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Brandon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolas Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. David Ruiz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Freedom ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Sumner. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Trent Strawser looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devon Acord, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Keven Made, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Freedom's record is now 4-1. As for Brandon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Brandon might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Freedom in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
