Basketball Recap: Ada Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Ada challenged Tuttle on Tuesday. The Ada Cougars took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tuttle Tigers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Tigers are ranked 298th).

Despite the loss, Ada still got an impressive performance from Miilan Riley, who posted eight points along with five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Riley a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Brock Boyles, who scored 11 points.

Even though they lost, Ada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Ada's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Tuttle, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.

Looking ahead, Ada will venture away from home to take on Fort Gibson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Fort Gibson's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Ada has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Tuttle, they have already played their next match, a 59-58 defeat against Shawnee on the 13th.
