Basketball Recap: Azusa's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Azusa had won two straight games and Adam Sanchez did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Azusa Aztecs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southlands Christian Eagles, sneaking past 72-69 thanks in part to Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Azusa's points.

Antoine Cueller-Morgan was another key player, putting up 18 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played.

Azusa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Southlands Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Azusa will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hoover at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Southlands Christian and The Webb Schools will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southlands Christian has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
