Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taft). They came out on top against the Hebbronville Longhorns by a score of 9-6 on Monday. The Greyhounds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Longhorns, too.

Taft let John Franco and Andrew Martinez run wild. Franco scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Martinez scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Franco has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Buendia, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Taft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Taft and bumps their season record up to 2-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Hebbronville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taft will square off against Sinton at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hebbronville, they will face off against Lyford at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
