Softball Game Preview: Robinson Knights vs. Gaither Cowboys

Robinson is 0-3 against Gaither since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Knights will host the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Gaither took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Robinson, who comes in off a win.

Robinson's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Middleton as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Skyler Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lillian 'Lilly' Davis and Dalia 'Mae' Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Campbell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Davis a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Isabella 'Bella' Villanti, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Robinson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Gaither might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Plant who claimed the real prize. The Cowboys fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Robinson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Gaither, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
