Football Game Preview: Wheeling Park Patriots vs. Morgantown Mohigans

Wheeling Park is 8-2 against Morgantown since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Mohigans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Wheeling Park strolled past St. Clairsville with points to spare, taking the game 24-7. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Wheeling Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brennan Wack out in front who rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Wack's longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Wheeling Park also got help from Owen Dobrzynski-Hines, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wheeling Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 188 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Morgantown faced Spring Mills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mohigans put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 21-0 victory. The 21-point effort marked the Mohigans' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Wheeling Park's record is now 4-1. As for Morgantown, their record now sits at 5-0.

Wheeling Park beat Morgantown 14-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
