Basketball Recap: Ely/Northeast Range Takes a Loss

Ely/Northeast Range has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers on Monday, falling 80-58. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Mountain Iron-Buhl found their leader in sophomore Anna Neyens, who went 10 of 22 en route to 24 points along with six assists and five boards. The game was Neyens' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Wiita, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Ely/Northeast Range's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, their victory was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Ely/Northeast Range does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, they will be playing at home against Cromwell at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
