Baseball Game Preview: St. Raphael Academy Saints vs. North Providence Cougars

The St. Raphael Academy Saints will challenge the North Providence Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

St. Raphael Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Narragansett, who was ranked 18th at the time (St. Raphael Academy was ranked 16th). The Saints never let the Mariners get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Sunday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Meanwhile, Sunday just wasn't the day for North Providence's offense. They fell 3-0 to West Warwick on Sunday.

St. Raphael Academy pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.33 runs across that stretch. As for North Providence, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

St. Raphael Academy skirted past North Providence 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
