Football Recap: Iowa Colony Piles Up the Points Against Santa Fe

There's no place like home for Iowa Colony, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Santa Fe Indians 63-14. Considering the Pioneers have won five contests by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Leading Iowa Colony to victory were Carson White and Aaron Tenner. White rushed for 52 yards and three scores on only five carries, while Tenner rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. Tenner's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Iowa Colony also got help from Jayden Warren, who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Iowa Colony was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jeremy Garner Ii, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Iowa Colony pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.8 points on average this season. As for Santa Fe, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Iowa Colony will venture away from home to face off against Lamar Consolidated at 11:00 a.m. on the 18th. The Pioneers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Santa Fe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Texas City at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
