Softball Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Kaufman Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Midlothian Panthers duke it out with Kaufman Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midlothian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Midlothian came up short against Midlothian Heritage and fell 7-3.

Aniyah Givens and Maddie Copeland did some serious damage despite the final result: Givens scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Copeland scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kaufman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ennis with a sharp 9-3 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Kaufman, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Abeni Nava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Sadie Waters was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Bella Phiffer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Kaufman's win bumped their record up to 7-10-2. As for Midlothian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7-1.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Midlothian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Kaufman struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Midlothian's way against Kaufman when the teams last played on March 7th, as Midlothian made off with a 20-4 victory. Does Midlothian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kaufman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
