Softball Recap: Saratoga Central Catholic Gets the Win

Saratoga Central Catholic took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Stillwater, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints skirted past the Warriors 12-11. 12 seems to be a good number for the Saints as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Grace Schaefer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Ogneiwski, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Bujno, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Saratoga Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stillwater only posted a batting average of .160.

The win made it two in a row for Saratoga Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Stillwater, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
