Baseball Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Braddock Bulldogs

The St. Brendan Sabres will face off against the Braddock Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (St. Brendan 3, Braddock 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

St. Brendan's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Spanish River as St. Brendan made off with a 7-0 win.

Not much got past Ulpiano Puentes, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Spanish River off the board. The dominant performance gave Puentes a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, St. Brendan let Alan Perez and Jorge Heredia run wild. Perez scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Heredia scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Perez a new career-high in RBI (two). Brandon Roca was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: St. Brendan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Braddock didn't have quite enough to beat Killian on Tuesday and fell 5-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Miguel Diaz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marcelo Torres and Jorge Gonzalez did some serious damage despite the final result: Torres scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Gonzalez got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Braddock's loss dropped their record down to 10-3-1. As for St. Brendan, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
