Softball Recap: Sylmar Drops Highest Score of Season Against Canoga Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sylmar). They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Canoga Park Hunters on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Analee Morales was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Morales was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Sylmar got a massive performance out of Maya Salceda, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those four RBI gave Salceda a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Viviana Cervacio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Sylmar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .800. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sylmar's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Canoga Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Sylmar will challenge King/Drew at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Canoga Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monroe at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
