Football Recap: Briggsdale Comes Up Short at Home Against Genoa-Hugo + How To Watch

Briggsdale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. The contest between the Falcons and the Genoa-Hugo Pirates didn't end well, with the Falcons falling 25-7. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Briggsdale saw an underclassman step up: freshman Asael Jimenez rushed for 93 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Jimenez's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Genoa-Hugo found their leader in sophomore Clint Hale, who picked up 25 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Briggsdale and Genoa-Hugo will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Falcons are set to challenge their familiar foe Weldon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Genoa-Hugo will face off against rival Stratton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
