Basketball Recap: West Marion Comes Up Short

West Marion's last matchup with Columbia could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Trojans were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 80-50. The loss put an end to the Trojans' undefeated start to the season.

Leading Columbia to victory were Braylon Johnson and Jaydon Johnson. Braylon went 8-for-9 en route to 19 points along with five boards and four steals, while Jaydon shot 50% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. Those 19 points gave Braylon a new career-high. Bryson Foxworth was another key player, going 6-for-15 on his way to 17 points and seven boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Marion fell to 2-1. As for Columbia, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Marion will take on Sumrall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will challenge Tylertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
