Crater hit Thurston with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colts came up short against the Comets, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Colts have suffered against the Comets since May 12, 2023.
For Crater's part, Ally Nottingham was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Nottingham has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Crater got a massive performance out of Espn Ostroskie, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Ostroskie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanda Hammer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Crater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thurston only posted an OBP of .348.
Thurston's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Crater, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Thurston hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Crater struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs.
