Baseball Recap: Father Tolton Comes Up Short

Father Tolton was the 12-2 winner over Lutheran when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. Father Tolton fell just short of Lutheran by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Father Tolton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Father Tolton got a good showing from Jack Mestres, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mestres has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Father Tolton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gibson Moore, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Father Tolton's record now sits at 16-10. As for Lutheran, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-20.

Looking ahead, Father Tolton will head out on the road to face off against Southern Boone at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Park at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
