Mendota is 10-0 against Coalinga since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mendota Aztecs are taking a road trip to square off against the Coalinga Horned Toads at 5:30 p.m. Mendota's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, it was close, but Mendota sidestepped Dos Palos for a 3-2 victory. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Broncos are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coalinga didn't have quite enough to beat Avenal on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Mendota has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3-2 record this season. As for Coalinga, they dropped their record down to 9-9-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mendota took their win against Coalinga in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mendota since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
