Basketball Recap: Altamont Takes Down Pinnacle in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Altamont had no problem doing just that on Monday. They strolled past the Pinnacle Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. The Longhorns have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Altamont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Tew led the charge by to rack up 18 points and six rebounds. What's more, Tew posted two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Breyden Jessen, who on his way to 15 points and six boards.

Pinnacle lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Santiago Alamillo, who put up six points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joey Howell, who en route to 14 points.

Altamont's record is now 3-18. As for Pinnacle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Altamont will square off against Rich at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rich knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Altamont likes a good challenge. Pinnacle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
