After a string of 17 wins, the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Friendship Tech Prep Academy.
Gwynn Park's loss came despite strong showings from Ty Bevins and Demarcus Daniel Jr.. Bevins scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Daniel Jr. scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Bevins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Kendall Washington was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Friendship Tech Prep Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik Shackleford out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Shackleford has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Bumpass, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Gwynn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 17-1. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
