Football Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Coronado lost against Mission Bay back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Islanders were dealt a 49-14 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Buccaneers are ranked 270th).

Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Chase Jenkins, who rushed for 56 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 72 receiving yards. The Islanders also got help from Reese Pagon, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

Trey Arnold produced another solid performance throwing for 421 yards and six touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes for Mission Bay.

This is the second loss in a row for Coronado and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Mission Bay, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coronado will square off against Mar Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mission Bay, they will face off against Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
