Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Pointe Academy). They claimed a resounding 58-24 victory over the UR Academy Lions. Given the Mariners' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 206th in South Carolina, while the Lions are ranked 570th in North Carolina), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Pointe Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for UR Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Pointe Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Richard Winn Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for UR Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Providence Classical at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
