Softball Recap: Sumter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ridge View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumter). They were the clear victors by a 23-0 margin over the Ridge View Blazers on Tuesday. Considering the Gamecocks have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

McKayla Mouradjian was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Laux, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.

Sumter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sumter is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ridge View, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Ridge View will take on Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Fighting Green Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.88 runs per game on average), something the Blazers will no doubt try to take advantage of. Sumter will be paying especially close attention to Ridge View's contest: after Ridge View faces off against Aiken, they'll take on Sumter again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
