Baseball Recap: Aurora Central Comes Up Short

Aurora Central couldn't beat Wheat Ridge on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Trojans lost 16-6 to the Farmers. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Farmers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Andres Aguillera and Kirby Colbert-Olson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Aguillera went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Colbert-Olson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Colbert-Olson is becoming a predictor of Aurora Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was German Alejos, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Aurora Central's record is now 3-5. As for Wheat Ridge, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Aurora Central will square off against Skyview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Wheat Ridge, they have already played their next matchup, a 15-5 defeat against Evergreen on the 11th.
