Preview: Liberty County Panthers vs. Savannah Christian Raiders

The Liberty County Panthers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Savannah Christian Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Liberty County made easy work of Beach and carried off a 43-21 victory. Liberty County pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Beach cut but never quite recovered from.

Carlos Keverene singleton went supernova for Liberty County, throwing for 253 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ron Golden, who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Liberty County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Beach's QB won't forget Desmond Brown anytime soon given Brown sacked him five times.

Meanwhile, Savannah Christian entered their tilt with Groves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Savannah Christian took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-0 victory over Groves. Given Savannah Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Groves is ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zo Smalls was his usual excellent self, rushing for 86 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also picking up 52 receiving yards. Blaise Thomas was another key contributor, throwing for 229 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.

Liberty County's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Savannah Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Liberty County was taken down by Savannah Christian 40-6 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Liberty County, Paulus Zittrauer (who rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 163 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
