Baseball Recap: Barstow Triumphs

Barstow won against Eastside last Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Barstow Aztecs came out on top against the Excelsior Charter Eagles by a score of 8-3. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Robert Shipley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Shipley wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Surprenant, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Joshya Romero was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Barstow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Barstow's record is now 2-3. As for Excelsior Charter, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Barstow didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-1 victory against Academy for Academic Excellence on the 3rd. As for Excelsior Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 10-7 defeat against Rowland on the 4th.
