Softball Recap: Liberty Wins Going Away Against Desert Oasis

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Liberty and Desert Oasis, and Liberty kept the tradition alive. The Patriots put the hurt on the Diamondbacks with a sharp 11-3 victory on Wednesday. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Diamondbacks, too.

Danielle Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Liberty got a massive performance out of Jaydah Chun, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Chun has posted since back in March of 2024. Danielle Luvanos was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Oasis only posted an OBP of .258.

Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Desert Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Looking ahead, Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Bakersfield Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Desert Oasis, they will face off against Mojave at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Diamondbacks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
