Recap: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Poway Titans
The Torrey Pines Falcons''s and the Poway Titans''s matchup on Thursday was close at halftime, but the Torrey Pines Falcons turned on the heat in the second half with 21 points. Everything went Torrey Pines' way against Poway as Torrey Pines made off with a 38-14 win. The result was nothing new for Torrey Pines, who have now won three games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jake Sweeney was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Sweeney's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Tu, who threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Torrey Pines' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kade Wilken.
Torrey Pines' win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Poway, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will challenge La Costa Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Poway, they will head out on the road to face off against Mission Hills at 7:15 p.m. on October 27th. Mission Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Poway in California (Mission Hills is ranked 46th, while Poway is ranked 168th).
