Baseball Recap: Manitowoc Lincoln Takes Down Ranked Notre Dame Academy

Manitowoc Lincoln faced Notre Dame Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Ships won by a run and slipped past the Tritons 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gabe Eichmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Eichmann was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kameron Braun was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Manitowoc Lincoln pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Manitowoc Lincoln will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kewaunee at 4:30 p.m. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will head out to face off against Seymour at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tritons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season.
