Preview: Frankford Pioneers vs. Germantown Friends
Frankford has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge Germantown Friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Germantown Friends took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Frankford, who comes in off a win.
Frankford posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They breezed by Maritime Academy Charter at home to the tune of 56-26. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Frankford did.
Frankford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameren Lane led the charge by scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lane has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaire Washington, who scored 16 points.
Germantown Friends suffered their biggest defeat since November 25, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-46 loss at the hands of Friends Select. Germantown Friends has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Frankford's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Germantown Friends, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Frankford came up short against Germantown Friends in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 63-53. Thankfully for Frankford, Amir Staten (who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
