Softball Recap: Marian Catholic Takes a Loss

Marian Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Laurence Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by just one run.

Jackie Pollock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Gracie Jensen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Marian Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for St. Laurence, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5.

Looking ahead, Marian Catholic is taking a road trip to take on Tinley Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for St. Laurence, they will be playing at home against Oak Forest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
