Baseball Game Preview: Bremen Lions vs. Logansport Berries

The Bremen Lions will face off against the Logansport Berries at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bremen was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Morgan Township, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since May 2nd.

Bremen let Preston Williams and Silas Laidig run wild. Williams went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Laidig went 2-for-5 with one home run and one double. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. Zack Rouch was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Logansport and Rochester had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Berries walked away with a 5-1 win over the Zebras on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Berries have won by exactly four runs.

Josh Middleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bryson Herr was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Deagan Kitchel, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Bremen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Logansport, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
