Football Preview: Kamiak Knights vs. Mariner Marauders
The Kamiak Knights will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mariner Marauders at 7:00 p.m.
Kamiak is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Jackson on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Kamiak came up short against Jackson, falling 39-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Timberwolves since October 26, 2018.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mariner). They breezed by Lynnwood at home to the tune of 43-3 on Friday. With the Marauders ahead 27-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Tyree Rivers had a dynamite game for Mariner, rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Rivers' longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Rodriguez, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Kamiak's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mariner, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.
Kamiak and Mariner were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, but Kamiak suffered an agonizing 14-13 defeat. Can Kamiak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
