Basketball Game Preview: Leonard Lancers vs. Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs

The Leonard Lancers will take on the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leonard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Leonard ended up a good deal behind Boynton Beach and lost 67-48.

Despite their defeat, Leonard saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryce Reed, who posted 17 points and eight boards, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 35.4% of Leonard's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jeff Jean was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joaquin Garcia lost to Chaminade-Madonna on the road by a 61-47 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Lions are ranked 40th).

Leonard has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Leonard came up short against Dr. Joaquin Garcia in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 81-68. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dr. Joaquin Garcia's Drovinsky Ulysse, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 27 points in addition to six boards and four blocks.
