Lake View and Latta are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2024, but likely not for long. The Wild Gators will welcome the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lake View comes in on six and Latta on nine.
Lake View came out on top against Cheraw on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Wild Gators took their matchup against the Braves 6-2.

Bryce King made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
King wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liam Newell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs. Another was Holden Lee, who earned two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Latta's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout last Wednesday. They never let Marion get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Lake View, Latta also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Weatherford. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Weatherford has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, JJ Welch was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Caden Hyatt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Latta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Lake View's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Latta, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Latta struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
