Baseball Recap: Caliche Triumphs

While Caliche's win against Prairie wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buffaloes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Mustangs on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buffaloes have posted since April 17, 2024.

Caliche got a massive performance out of Zander Yost, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Yost is becoming a predictor of the Buffaloes' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Avery Bell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Caliche was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Caliche's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Prairie, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Caliche didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-2 loss against Merino on the 19th. As for Prairie, they will square off against Briggsdale at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
