Baseball Game Preview: Glendora Tartans vs. Costa Mesa Mustangs

The Glendora Tartans will face off against the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Glendora's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Costa Mesa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Glendora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Yucaipa. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tartans.

Brayden Johnson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Glendora saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Obert, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kai Zeits was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Costa Mesa entered their tilt with San Juan Hills on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mateo Navarro was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.

Costa Mesa's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Glendora, their record is now 20-10.
