Basketball Recap: Sitterud Porter Key Part of Team Effort in Spartans Win

Emery saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 63-52 win over the Ogden Tigers.

Emery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sitterud Porter led the charge by going 10-for-16 to rack up 21 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Porter now owns an excellent 46.2% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Conover Garrett, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Ogden lost, don't look at Jackson Maw. Despite the final result, he shot 53% from the field en route to 21 points and eight boards. That was a full 40.4% of the Tigers' points, marking the fourth time in a row Maw has posted more than a third of the team's points. Peter Archibald also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Emery's record is now 5-2. As for Ogden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Emery didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-60 victory against Northridge on the 6th. As for Ogden, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-55 loss against Union on the 6th.
