Basketball Recap: Wakefield Drops Season-High Score on Leesville Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakefield). They walked away with an 81-70 win over the Leesville Road Pride on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Wakefield found their leader in sophomore Avery Hicks, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Hicks. Colin Taylor was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Wakefield now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Leesville Road, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-1.

Wakefield will face off against Independence at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Independence will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Wakefield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leesville Road, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 92-58 win against East Chapel Hill on the 11th.
