Basketball Game Preview: Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks vs. St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions

The Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks will face off against the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. Miller School of Albemarle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.

Miller School of Albemarle came up short against Blue Ridge on Thursday, falling 65-41. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Barons are ranked second).

Despite their defeat, Miller School of Albemarle saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ryan Crotty, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Dyer, who posted seven points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday St. Andrew's Episcopal sidestepped Georgetown Prep for a 56-54 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

St. Andrew's Episcopal's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5. As for Miller School of Albemarle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
