Basketball Recap: Lamar Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lamar extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 3-0. They had just enough and edged out the University Bulldogs 46-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since January 28th.

Lamar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Jacobs, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and six rebounds. Jacobs has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Dunning, who posted nine points and four steals.

As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Marcus Prestwich, who put up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of River Sawyer, who earned 13 points.

Looking ahead, Lamar will challenge Jefferson Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for University, they will take on Middle Park in a tournament on Thursday.
