Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Faith Christian Academy lost against Trinity Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Faith Christian Academy Conquerors took a blow against the Trinity Christian Tigers, falling 64-17. While losing is never fun, the Conquerors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Tigers are ranked 135th).

Despite the defeat, Faith Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Finney posted nine points.

Trinity Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Burnham out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Those 23 points gave Burnham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenna Overton, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Faith Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 24-5.

Coming up, Faith Christian Academy will square off against New Bern Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Trinity Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-13 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 8th.
