Basketball Recap: Mauldin's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Mauldin was the 85-64 winner over Seneca when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks fell 66-62 to the Bobcats on Wednesday. The loss put an end to the Mavericks' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Mauldin lost, don't look at Jace Shaw. Despite the final result, he shot 67% from the field on his way to 20 points. Shaw has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Saint-Amour, who posted six points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Seneca's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Hunter, who scored 18 points and seven assists. Chaz Moss was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mauldin fell to 2-1. As for Seneca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mauldin is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Seneca, they will head out to square off against Wren at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
