The Bolivar Central Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Trinity Christian Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Tigers fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They blew past Jackson North Side 18-4 on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Leah Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those five hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Bolivar Central let Mollie Nuckolls and Haley Burns run wild. Nuckolls went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Burns scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-5. That's the most RBI Nuckolls has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addyson Smith, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
Bolivar Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson North Side only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against Middleton as Trinity Christian Academy made off with a 17-1 victory.
Haley Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Madey Putman was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Rylee Hidrogo was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Bolivar Central suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Trinity Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Bolivar Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
