Baseball Recap: Parrish Community Comes Up Short

Parrish Community came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-4 to the IMG Academy Black Ascenders. If the Bulls were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Bulls when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Parrish Community got a good showing from Vince Barry, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Parrish Community saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cripe, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ja'Brien Quiles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

With the defeat, Parrish Community broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for IMG Academy Black, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Parrish Community has already played their next contest, a 7-2 win against Braden River on the 27th. As for IMG Academy Black, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-3 victory against Sunshine State Elite Academy on the 25th.
