Baseball Recap: Castle View Comes Up Short

If Castle View was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Valor Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Castle View Sabercats fell just short of the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The loss was the Sabercats' first of the season.

Gabriel Grandy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Derek Gordon was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Castle View fell to 2-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Castle View will take on Sunnyslope in a tournament on Tuesday. The last three games Sunnyslope has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. Sunrise Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
