Howland waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Springfield a 12-0 shutout. Considering Howland has won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Richie Ansel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Howland is undefeated when Ansel posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bode Biggin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Howland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Howland's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Coming up, Howland will head out to take on Streetsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Springfield, they will take on Boardman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
