Basketball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

Westfield's tournament run continued when they took on Hardin-Jefferson on Saturday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 37-35. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly two points.

Despite the loss, Westfield still got an impressive performance from Christopher Clay, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points. Clay has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

It was another big night for Cordell Lowe, who shot 45% from the field en route to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals for Hardin-Jefferson. Another player making a difference was Aiden Price, who posted six points and six assists.

Westfield has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Hardin-Jefferson, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Westfield has already played their next game, a 48-45 win against Humble on the 13th. As for Hardin-Jefferson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-38 defeat against Stafford on the 13th.
