Football Game Preview: Mamaroneck Tigers vs. John Jay Patriots

The Mamaroneck Tigers will square off against the John Jay Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mamaroneck will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Mamaroneck is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 54-20 victory over North Rockland. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, John Jay had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over Scarsdale on Friday. The victory was just business as usual for the Patriots, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.

John Jay's win came from a few key players Mamaroneck will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Logan Lawrence, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one rushing score. What's more, he racked up 149.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to John Jay's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Justin Scavino, Michael Forlivio, and Nicholas Pollock, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Mamaroneck came up short against John Jay in their previous matchup back in October, falling 20-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' Cruz Calcagni, who rushed for 87 yards and three TDs, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.
